(Pune, Maharashtra) – The Rotary Club of Pune Kalyani Nagar, Poona Automobile Dealer’s Association, Punjabi Cultural Association, Lions Club of Poona Pimpri – Chinchwad, Rotary Action Group for Menstrual Health and Hygiene, V Empower All Foundation and the Vivaan Foundation had organized a friendly women cricket match for the promotion of Menstrual Hygiene through the usage of Menstrual Cups. The games were played at the Kataria Grounds, on 13th February, 2022. The players and spectators followed and encouraged all to adhere to Covid-19 protocols and guidelines.
The event was chaired by Dr. Megha Sharma, a former President of the Rotary Club of Pune Kalyani Nagar. Dr Megha Sharma said every year we shall keep trying to give new definition to the Color RED and have awareness programs on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.
Later, the same shall be followed by mass distribution and training on usage of Menstrual cups on the occasion of Women’s Day!
Menstrual Cups are considered environment friendly as they are reusable, durable, sustainable, and reliable. Economically the menstrual cups are less expensive as compared to the sanitary pads. These cups are washable and are reusable.
Guests had reported the grounds at 1:00 pm and the matches began with enthusiasm. We are grateful to PADA to allot ground time to play the friendly match.The representatives of the various organizing bodies competed against each other. The matches were followed by refreshments, media bytes, and felicitations. We are proud to say that, in order to assist us in our mission of promoting safe and ecologically sustainable menstrual hygiene, the event was attended by celebrity guests including Dr. Prachiti Punde, Mrs. Austral Asia, and Shrruti Patole, Mrs. Universe Central Asia, 2017.
There was an equal involvement of males in spreading awareness regarding the cause which was very encouraging. The youth enthusiastically gave their contribution in spreading awareness regarding the use of greener menstrual products. We are glad to inform that the event promoting a sustainable and inclusive future was a great success and we are looking forward to continuing with the mission to ensure better menstrual hygiene.
